SPIRIT BIOLOGY

The biology of a spirit is pretty simple consisting only of a skeletal frame enveloped in hardened ectoplasm as an outer shell.

Ectoplasm is produced and maintained in a similar way to fat in a human, requiring the spirit to eat to add to their mass.

While the skeleton is stable and does not change its shape outside of injury, ectoplasm is unstable and can be shaped or molded however a person likes. Some spirits further this alteration by choosing to have their skeletal structure modified with prosthetics to give them more freedom of appearance.

Not all spirits have complete shells sometimes by choice, sometimes because they simply haven't been dead long enough for one to fully form.
